What is MMA

Experienced MMA, Muay Thai and Boxing coach, Anthony Manning. Head Instructor at Phoenix Combat Sports Club, Australia talks about what is MMA. MMA is not a style alone, it is mixture of martial arts. How MMA is now different to Mixed Martial Arts due to competitions and how MMA champions train to be expert at a few systems and themselves don’t do MMA but specialise; usually in one style as a base then they add to that knowledge with another style to suit their fighting style. Mixed Martial Arts is simple a mixture of martial arts and you can do Mixed Martial Arts without competing in MMA. The essence of the philosophy is to be a master at Martial Arts but mastering a style and then learning more to add to your own personal system and not being fooled by modern day MMA gyms that will teach you be a good at a few things and a master of none. Watch and see what you think and we hope this helps decide what is right for your training.
